REGISTRATION OF VOTERS.

AppJications for registration on the Chnstchurch North mil will be received up to G p.m. on the day of the issue or the writ. Information regarding the roll can bo obtained at tho office of the Registrar of Electors for Christchurch North, at 2G3 Manchester street, in the Manchester Chambers, almost opposite tho Municipal Tepid Baths. A misunderstanding has arisen as to , the offico in Hayward's Chambers, Armagh street, near Victoria equaro, where tho work in connection with the electoral census is being done. Tho Registrar will be glad if Christchurch North electors will not visit that offico on business connected with tho byelection, as all the information on that subject can be obtained at his office in the Manchester Chambers. At present tho Registrar and his assistants are busy purging the roll, principally by effecting transfers from it to other rolls and from other rolls to tho Christchurch iNorth roll.

In respect to the recent electoral census, it should be noted that persons who then applied for enrolment were either put on the roll and notified by postcard that they had been put on the roll, or were notified of any objection to their enrolment. _ This ha 3 been dono not only in respect to the Christchurch North electorate, but also in respect to all other electorates. Applicants who havo not received any notification whatever, should consult tho Returning Officer if they want to be enrolled. Applicants for enrolment should not postpone unduly sending in their applications, ns iho law provides that the Returning Officer can take three days to decide whether or not any particular claim is a good one. and further allows him seven days within which to notify the applicant as to whether or not he or she has been enrolled. Consequently, it is possible that applications tnat are not made till a day or two before the issue of the writ, may not be considered good, and there will be little or no timo to rectify errors or omissions. Tho advice to those who are not at present on the roll is to apply for registration at once. The roil -for Chnstchurch North may bo seen at tho Registrar's Office, 263 Manchester street.
