Owing to the Argentine imposing irksome quarantine restrictions tho Italian Government, in order to uphold national dignity, has issued a decree suspending emigration to the Argentine. New South Wales meat exporters allege that competition in frozen meat freights does not exist, and that shipowners are apparently working under an agreement. They contemplate asking the Government to take action. A cable from Paris states that tho Northern Railway Company's warehouse at St. Owen, stocked with electrical materials, has been burned down. The damago is estimated at 1,000,000 francs. The Russian Foreign Office has informed Britain that Mis 3 Malacca, who lias been imprisoned lor somo months in Warsaw, is a Russian subject, but that, out of friondliness towards England, the Government will promise to hasten her trial. Miss Malecca was born in London and it is claimed in some quarters that she is a British subject.
