WAIMATE.
A special meeting of the Waimate Borough Council was held on Monday night to consider the Kelcy's bush property and drainage matters. In regard to the former question replies had b;*u received from Hon. D. Bnddo stating tliat the Government had agreed to have the property -purchased in the name of the borough, to be kept as a trust for water conservation. Tho Minister also informed the Council that they (the Council), would have to pay for the survey. It was resolved that Mr R. Black (Timaru) be employed to survey the area purchased. In the drainage business the report of Mr Leeder, the consulting engineer, recommended 9-in. pipes throujtfunrfc, iaricad of a portion being 6-it_., also four ventilator shafts. These recommendations were adopted.
