WOOLSTON.
The fortnightly jneetiog was held onj Monday night. Present—The Mayor, Crs. Davis, Mills, Gilmore, Goodhead. Taylor, Newton, Wright, Gimblett, and Graham. On the recommendation of the Works Committee 150 yds scoria was authorised for Cumnor terrace, and the foreman was instructed to block the drain in Aldwin's road from the north side of Canal Reserve. The special fire brigade committee recommended that the Council approach the Christchurch Fire Board by deputation to enquire on what terms it would guarantee fire protection to the Borough. The report was adopted, and the Mayor, Cr. Wright, and the town clerk were appointed the deputation. The minimum area and frontage of land on which a building could be erected was referred to tbe by-laws oommittee with the view of having a by-law framed to prevent the erection of dwelling houses on small sections. A largely-signed petition from residents was forwarded to the Council for support in approaching the Tramway Board for an extension of the 2d section to Radley bridge. The Council referred the petition to a sub-com-mitteo for report. The Mayor was requested to accent the Salvation Army's j invitation for 23rd August on the occasion of the Army's effort to raise funds for Coronation Memorial. Before taking any.further action in regard to the sewage nuisance the Council decided to await tiie District Health Officer's reply and ascertain the Drainage Board's intentions. The Council's patronage was granted to the Trades and Labour Exhibition. Letters were received from Messrs Andrews, Garland, and Smart regarding supply of metal, none of whom could promise regular deliveries. The matter was referred to the Works Oommittee; in the meantime it was decided to order 250 yds for repair of; Radley street and part of Garland road from Messrs Smart and Son.
