THE ARTS AND SCIENCE DEGREES, (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON. July 17.
The Court of Convocation of the Middle University District of New Zealand held » special meeting to-night to consider several po-ota referred to the Court by the Senate of the New Zealand University in co-u>ection with the reconstruction of the -courses for the Art* and Science Degree*. It was resolved that for the B.A. and B.Sc. p**s degree there should be substituted a pase degree, leading to th* M-Sc degree on tbo science side, and to the MJL degree on. the arts side. It was also resolved that if the B.A. and B-Sc. degree be amelgama-ted, no special pass degree be given in science; that it is desirable that the course adopted by every student *h<mld be approved by tho Professorial Board; that no subject ehould be compulsory for the BJL degree except in *o tar as compulsion is necessary for s homo-' genera* course; and that the Convocation urge* on the Senate the desirability of holding a conference to deal with the details oi the arts and science ooumes.
