An agricultural conference has opened at tho Colonial Office,* Sir William Hall-Jones, Mr McGowen, Mr Lewis, and others attended. Lord Cromer, who presided, explained a scheme for establishing a central organisation in London to transmit information enabling the dominions and colonies to legislate against pests. Mr McGowen proposed a resolution that the scheme would be highly advantageous, and that steps should ho taken to retain the adhesion of the colonies. This was carried. ' ,
