AMBERLEY.
An entertainment in connection with, the Am her ley Presbyterian Church was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening. The Rev. John Craig presided, and considering the bad weather, there was a large attendance. Miss AY. l>. Watts opened with a piano solo. Misses A. Murdoch and McFarlano and Mr A. »S. Mitchell contributed solos, Mr A. Murdoch gave several recitations. Mr G. Latirenson, M.P., gave an address. He said it was not enough to improve the environment of a man, but that his heart must be changed and only religion could do that. Refreshments were provided by the ladies of the congregation. Tho Bishop of Christchurch held a confirmation at Holy JnnocentV Church, Amberley, on Thursday evening last. The preface was read by tho vicar (Roy. W. F. Knowles), who presented seven males and four females for confirmation. The Bishon's address was upon how to confess Christ before men. A collection was taken toward tho Clergy, Widows' and Orphans' Fund.
