MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A female first offender, who had been found drunk on the Christchurch raihvay station, was fined' 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. .Two male first offenders were each fined os, in default 24 hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness. THEFT AND VAGRANCY. James Williams, 22 years of age, pleaded guilty to a charge of having stolen at Halkett one pair of boots and two sticks of tobacco, of a total value of 12s, the property of William Henderson. Accused pleaded not guilty to a further ciiarge that he was an idle and disorderly person, in that he had insufficient lawful means of support. Sub-Inspector McGrath applied for a remand for one week, as the police had in their possession a number of articles found on the accused, and it was hoped tlmt the owners might be found. In addition, thc accused was very strange in his ways, and they would like to have further opportunities of watching Accused was remanded for one week, for observation. INDECENCY. Nicholas Mallouk, an elderly Syrian, was charcred with, indecent exposure. He gave an explanation through an interpreter, and was remanded for one week, bail being allowed, tho accused in £25, and one surety of £25.
