IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.
REORGANISATION OF THE COL-
ONIAL OFFICE
COUNCIL OF HIGH COMMISSIONERS SUGGESTED.
United Pr.su Associatioi-H-By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, May 26. An official report of this afternoon's sitting of the Imperial Conference will be published to-morrow. It is understood that Sir Joseph Ward's resolution concerning the reconstruction of thc Colonial Office was discussed. Mr. Lewis Harcourt-. Colonial Secretary,, outlined certain changes which would be embodied in a* memorandum for futuro consideration. He pointed out that the creation of a separate Under-Secrctaryship for each Dominion would bo attended with difficulty. If thc change were really demanded, however, the Government would meet the views of the Premiers. Mr Harcourt aLso suggested the appointment of an Advisory Council of High Commissioners, or of other Dominion nominees, to meet in consultation between the sittings of the Imperial Conferences. Tho Prime Minister (Mr Asquith) agreed that tho secretariat organised in 1907 had proved satisfactory.
