The Council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association met last evening. Present—Mesyra G. Harris, in the chair, A. Donaldson, H. E. "VVillipms, J. F. ParsonBon, E. V. Spier. E. Reese, C. Kent, and P. K. Rundle. secretary. Telegrams from Nelson and, "Wellington, and a letter from Auckland relativ-e to Mr liassett's motion relegating to the various head centres the control of the Humane grant from the Government, wero referred to the Rules Revision .Committee. A memorandum of sugpested olternatK* arrangements, drafted by Mr A. Donaldson, wa;- also referred to the Rules Revision Committee. The effect of the suggestion* was that the Royal Life-saving Societyshould affiliate to v, centre; that ths centres should allocate to the various societies affiliated to them the portion of the Government grant for life-Kaving; and that tho life-saving societies ehould account to the centres for tho proper expenditure cf such portion of tho Government grant. Mr W. Henry, chief secretary of tho Royal Life-saving Society, wrote expressing pleasure at what he h;id seen during his Tccent tour. Remits were received from a conference of delegates representing the various centres held in Wellington in February last, suggesting the addition.of a diving championship to the list of New Zealand championship events; the alteration of points allotted in judging diving contests: the opening of negotiations regarding rejoining the Australasian Union; tho furnishing of all centres with copies of tho annual report and balance-sheet at least fourteen days befcre the holding of the nnnna! meeting; the provision ef a slrold for competition amongst the centres, on the lines of the shield of the X.Z.A-A.A.'s shield; tbnt persons connected with professional football be excluded from all amateur sports: the reduction of entrance fees for nil championshin event*; the definition of "New Zc- a-!ander":-the allocation of championships for a period of five years; certain alterations iv the rrde3 governing water polo: the inclusion in the New Zealand championship of 100 yds brea=t stroke, 1320vds, and back stroke races, and the holding of tho ladies' championships. The remits ivcre all referred to the Rules Revision Committee.
