j Mr G. R. Whiting, chairman of tho j Municipal Representation Commifjeo, i informed a reporter that, he felt n ore ', than proud at the result oi the t-k'f- : tions. The Mayoral clt*ction he looked j upon as ihe greatest victory that Labour j had achieved ior some considerable time j past. The return of the committ<ie's I complete ticket for the Sydenham ward |ho looked upon as a good augury for ! the approaching .Parliamentary oteci tions. He felt more than gratijiod ' with tho result, knowing that the'eomi mittee's candidates had been pitted ; against sonic of the ablest public wen | in that ward. Although not successful inI securing direct labour representation in j the Central and St. Albans wards, tho vote polled by tho committee's candidates in both wards was very encouragj ing, seeing, that thoy wore absolutely ! unknown to the public till two months ago. The only assistance that the committee had in their organisation was voluntarily rendered by men who had to do their eight hours ot daily labour, j and tho results showed that with a . I little more energy thrown into their ' efforts the Labour Party would score a | great victory at. the general elections. i HOW THE WARDS VOTED.
