Professor Lexer, of Jena, at the Gorman Surgeons' Congress, detailed tho construction of an entirely new oesophagus out of an intestine, the outer skin being grafted. The organ had been destroyed by sulphuric acid, which a woman had taken when attempting to commit suicide. The burns reached from tho pharynx to the stomach. The woman is now taking solid and fluid food.
