VIEWS OF POLITICIANS.
Mr Hughes, Actins-Federal Premier, considers that one of the most remarkable features of the campaign is the smallness of tho poll in New South Wales. He says that not moTe than 50 per cent, went to tho poll of those who voted at the April elections. Mr Carmichael holds that there arconly two courses open now. Either the Federal Ministers must modify their proposals and bring them within tho limits of tho Labour Platform, or agitato for a pronounced and emphatic re-modelling of tho Constitution to give tho Federal Parliament tho full functions of an Australian Parliament. Mr Holman said that it would now be necessary to sec what stops should be taken to give the Federal Parliament tho necessary additional powers. This could be done in conformity with the Labour platform. The referenda proposals were against tho platform. Tho Liberal leaders express satisfaction at the results'to hand.
