ELLESMERE.

The monthly meeting of the Ellesmere Road Board was held on Monday. Present—Messrs Jas. Storry (chairman), J. Lochhead, J. S. Boag, and M. Dixon. An apology for non-attendance was received from Mr J. A. C. McMillan.' Dr. Nathan wrote, complaining of cattle being allowed to wander on the streets at Leeston and pointing out that his erty had been considerably damaped, and that though he had" warned the owner, his warnings had been of no avail. The cattle of which he complained were driven past his place four times a day, and very often the best part of the day was occupied in tho passage. It was decided to call the attention of the ranged to the matter, and to warn the person referred to that the offence must not be reoeated.. It was decided to take further action to compel occupiers of property to remove willows obstructing the free flow of water in the Irwell creek.

The Board also sat as the local Hoard of Health, the same members ueing present. Dr. Nathan reported a fuse of of typhoid fever at Leeston. A iong letter was also received from Dr. Nathan, dealing chiefly with the sanitary atato of Leeston, the water supply, iind covering several suggestions for th» improvement of the sanitary arrange-
