TEMUKA.

At the monthly meeting of the Temuka Borough Council, the question oi the water supply again came forward. The secretary ot the Fire Brigade report**! that the tire engine and Hose were worn out, and could not be relied upon, as was evidenced at the tire on the 18th November. The Deputy-Mayor (Cr. D. Mclnnes). said that ho had received a further report on the hi_h-pressure water supply from Mr F. \V. Marchant, C.E., anil eventually it was decided to hold tho matter over for the special meeting. Colonel Hayhnrst waited on the Council in reference to: —(1) The sanitary arrangemonts in connection, with the new buildings he has just erected and others he contemplated erecting, and (2) the widening ol Commerce street. After discussion a special committee was appointed to go into the matter. The Finance Committee's renort was as follows:—Rates outstanding, £1140 2s 8d; rents outstanding, £36 10s lOd; bank balances, district fund account, dr. £60 IBs 8d; drainage extension account, cr. £101 12s 4d; receipts for month, £176 6s 4d, and accounts amounting to £133 8s 5d were passed for payment.
