The Geraldine Mounted Rifles held a dismounted parade on Saturday night, when there were present:—Captain J. Kennedy, Lieut. Barker, and 71. noncommissioned officers and men. The company was put through squad drill by Statf-Sergeant-Major Clements, who •had come out from Timaru, and tho men acquitted themselves admirably, all showing a keen desire to make themselves proficient in their drill. The company is now up to full strength (84), nnd recruits aro still coming for-

ward, but it is impossible to enrol more members until permission is granted to increase the establishment. The men are a particularly tine stamp, and are of _cotl physique.
