H AWARD'S PICTURES. The innovation of changing the programme at His Majesty's Theatre on . Monday evening instead of Thursday, as heretofore, has proved very popular, the seating accommodation being taxed to its utmost capacity last night. The principal nlm was that entitled "'Uncle Tom's Cabin," giving a- very powerful and absorbing representation of H&rriot BeecTier Stowe's celebrated and well-known work. Tho picture was a triumph of cinematography, and was characterised by the splendid acting oi the principals. It was accompanied bj special vocal items. The solos were excellent sung by Miss Florence Hayward and Mr Itetals, who were supported by «, vorv efficient choir of trained voices. The rest of the programme comprised other very strong films of various subjects, chief among them being the Pathe Gazette twhich was noticeable for the magnificent view it gave of a monster air-ship), "Feeding Seals at Catalina Island" (showing tourists feeding seals), and "Launching the Olympic," depicting the launching of the Dreadnought of the Mercantilo Marine. A feature of the bill was the excellent comics. The same bill will be shown this evening. FULLER'S PICTURES. The principal attraction at the Colosciim last night, when there was a change of programme in connection with Fuller s Pictures, was the cinematograph reproduction of "Uncle Tom's Cabin." Tho ealient point* in ; the story are excellently depicted, and 1 tbo whole of the events are worked out niost realistically. Tho scenes depicting Philae and the Balearic Islands, with the marvellous figures on the rock walls in tho former were deeply interesting. Another beautiful scenio series was "Tho Dart and Dartmoor," in which some of the mast charming bite of English rural scenery "were depicted. "A Summer Idyll" was & pretty love story, charmingly told and well acted throughout. The setting of this series was very good indeed, "The Stronger Set" was an excellent series of pictures, and the various characters wero well acted. "The Governess ,, was a pathetic story, and in "Feeding the Seals" a fine opportunity was afforded • of a close view of these animals. Patrons of tho Opera House last evening had every reason to be satisfied with tho programme, which was submitted for their delectation. There" were some- really capital turns, and the items generally were of a very entertaining character. The minstrel show in the first part was a bright and lively affair, and gave the excuse for the introduction of some good songs and clever dances. "Will Winton, the McCorraack Duo, Tom Vivian, Jack Knowlee, Scot Gibson, Blanche Carelli, Vernon Mack., the Two Rosebuds, and ■ Jim Gaffnoy, contributed, and each was eminently- satisfactory. la the second part some little time was devoted to a biogmph film depicting the adventures of Johnny Vane, an Australian bushranger. The picture wae full of action, and its typical Australian setting gave it a pleasant touch of realism. The different incidents of the bushranger's progress were described by Mr Alfred Boothman. Farrell and Gaffney introduced an exceedingly clever sone and dance turn. They are both clever dancers, and one of fhe pair does a on<i-legged dance in a remarkably clever fashion. Another good turn was provided by the "Juggling Gazzes," who do some entertaining comedy stuff, r.jid are clever, ell-round jugglers. Miss Ruby Wallace, a young comedienne, was very successful in fter song and dance. The same programme, ■ will be given this evening. ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY.
