The Commissioner of ' Taxos, Wellington. Sir, —Referring to an item Class IX., the De,psartment of Internal Affairs, which I see on the Supplementary Estimates, 'allowance to W. M. My reason for making this request is the deep feeling I have that no officer of the Department should have any direct financial interest in any assessment. Yours obediently (signed) W. M.
