A PLAYGROUNT> DISPUTE. The usual of the Technical College Board of Governors was held on Friday night, there being present:— Messrs C. Allison (chairman), &• £• Bingham, W. F, Cooper, «• Cooper, T. Williams. . , The Chairman reported that, in aefiance of the arrangement come to between tlio Technical College .Boarct and the Education Board to use tne South Belt school grounds ns a common playground by tho pupils attending tjve College, and those in attendance at the South Belt School, a letter had been received from tho Education -Board stating that on the representations or tho Christchurch East iSchool Committee it deemed it advisable that a dividing fence should bo erected, and it requested the Technical College Board to contribute half the cost of the work. The Appointments Committee had written to the Education Board, giving | tho points involved, and asking them to j deter action until tho meeting of the Technical. Board had been held. The Education Board had replied agreeing to this. Thp motion for the adoption*of the renort was carried. Air Relph then moved that a deputation, consisting of the Chairman and Messrs Murphy and Scott, bo appointed to wait "upon the Education Board with a view to adjusting tho dispute, and the motion, on being put to the meeting, was carried. Tho resignations of Mr Stout, instructor in typography, and Mr S. J. G. Davios, instructor in woodwork, machinery and turning, were accepted with regret, and a vote of heartj. thanks was conveyed to them for their able and conscientious work. Upon the recommendation of the Appointment and Classes Committee it was resolved to defer consideration of the appointment of an instructor in typography for the present, to appoint Mr Barrett to do the woodwork machining required for the College, and in connection with the classes, and to appoint Mt Arnold Morrison, of Wan* uamii, as instructor in fitting and .turning.
