The Minister of Marine (Mr Brodeur) complained in Parliament regarding articles published in French Nationalist newspapers, and raised the question of privilege. The newspaper -'Le Devoir" accused him of intentionally misleading the House in attributing to it articles it had never published. The Minister acknowledged that '-Lo Devoir" did not publish the articles, but alleged that his error had arisen iinintentionallv. Mr Blonding, a French-Canadian, declared that Mr Brodeur accused him of anti-British speeches during the Quebec election, lie emphatically denied delivering the speeches alleged. The incident closed without result. in the House, Mr Foster accused Sir Wilfrid Laurii r of not living up to his appeals against race prejudice.
