EXPANDING TRADE.

CANTERBURY'S EXPORTS AND IMPORTS. MARKED ADVANCE IN WOOL. Canterbury's expanding trade is fully demonstrated again by the Customs returns through the r>ort of Lyttelton * for last month, which show again a striking increase both in imports ami exports, as against tho corresponding period for last year. The imports increased by some £7000, the net Customs duties for November, 1910, bcinu £3(i,4G3 7s, and tbe beer duty £1721 19s 2d, as against net Customs £29.513 os -Id and beer duty £1070 Is od in November, 1909. The exports show a similar increase, the principal factors being wool and wheat. Last month 205, 1031b of wool, representing £11,800, were exported, as against 1 Hi, 1571b, representing £5310, just over half the quantity, in November, 1909, whilst as against an export of 84,581 bushels- of wheat, valued at £14,074, exported in November, 1910, the corresponding month last, year can only show nothing. Other lines showing advances last month are butter, cheese, tallow, and tow. Frozen mutton and lamb, however, show considerable falls, whilst of frozen beef, none was exported. Also as against 51,320 bushels of oats, representing £4720, in November, 1909, only 499 bushels, representing £56, were exported last month. Other falls wero in hides and skins.
