This year _10,000 will be spent in advertising the Commonwealth. It is estimated that twelve thousand invalids and sixteen thousand women will apply for the Commonwealth .pensions, involving an increased payment of £70,000. The Federal Parliament has been prorogued until February, but will not meet until September. FIRST ISSUE OF STATE NOTES. (Received December Ist, 8.10 p.m.) MELBOURNE. December 1. Tlie first issue of Federal bank-notes was made to-day. Tho notes are the ordinary forms of the respective banks with the words "Australian note, nayable in gold at the Commonwealth Treasury" at the seat of Government," .win ted across the middle. It will probably bo somo timo before tho Government's own notes are ready for issue. THE FEDERAL CAPITAL. (Received December 2nd, 1.3 a.m.) Mr Hughes states the proclamation of the transfer of the Federal capital territory will bo issued next Wednesday.
