At the conclusion of the Trial Handicap at the Takapuna races, Heta crashed into a horse ridden "by a mounted constable. Heta was so badly hurt that it had to be destroyed. binija was scratched tor all engagements at the Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting at 9 a.m. yesterday. Chief Lochiel, Husbandman, and Tannhauser, who have been spelling since the Cup Meeting, resume work this week. Mr H. A. Knight has turned Tiki-te-re out for a lengthy spoil at his station, Racecourse Hill. Entries for the Malvern Trotting Club's annual meeting close on Thursday evening. Mr G. i). Greenwood has sold Ins two-year-old filly, Mallaig, by Clanrana'ld—Happy Valley. ■ The Fifth Fcildms Stakes will be decided to-morrow. Anions the horses engaged are Madam Madcap, Formby, Provocation, Polymorphous, and Gipsy Belle. The well-known trotting handicapper, Mr H. Brinkman, returned from Dunedin yesterday. Record nominations hare been received for the Cheviot Racing Club's meeting, which lakes place on [December 30th. In the telegraphed report of the Forbury Cup, published in yesterday mornini's papers, [Discoverer was given as the winner of that event, with Bell Metal second, and Lord Chancellor. This is incorrect, as the race was won by Mr Moreland's colt, Lord Chancellor, who put up a record performance for the Forbury track, by covering the two miles in 4.40. The winner, who was judiciously driven by A. Pringle, started favourite, and ran a great race. 3>iscoverer was fourth.
