SUPREME COURT TRIALS.
(r-ESS ASSOCIATION* TKL-GR-UI.) WELLINGTON, May 25. Alice Mary Anstice, a young woman, was charged at the Supreme Court to-, day, before his Honour the Chief Justice, with having performed an illegal operation. Mr W. H. D. Hell prosecuted on behalf of the Crown, tho prisoner being represented by Mr Tv M. Wilford. The caso was heard behind closed doors, and Tmblication of tho evidence was forbidden by his Honour. After four hours' deliberation, the jury failed to come to an agreement. A re-trial will be taken on Wednesday next.
