NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
A meeting of the Christchurch Prohibition League will be held to-morrow night in the League rooms, Worcester street, when various remits and notices of motions sent to the Dominion NoLicense Convention will be considered. Six delegates win be elected to represent the League at the Convention, which will commence in Wellington on the 22nd of next month.
Mi Firth, organist of the "Durham street Wesleyan Church, will give an organ recital in the church this evening. The annual boxing competitions under the auspices of the Sports Club for tho amateur championship of Canterbury will take place at the Theatre Royal on June 2nd and 3rd. The entries will close on Saturday next, the 28th inst.
The new grounds of tho New Zealand Utility Poultry Club, which are situated at Northcoto road, Papanui, will be opened on Saturday next, at 2.30 p.m., when the public arc invited to be p resent. After the annual meeting of tho Northern A. and P. Association at Rangiora on Friday, the anuiual dinner will be held in the* Oddfellows' Hall.
In connection with the . Church of England Men's Society, a conference is to be held " this evening in St. John's Schoolroom. His Lordship Bishop Julius is to preside, and all men interested in the movement an? invited. The leading rTCakers will be the Revs. W. W. Sedgwick, H. Purchas and P. B. Haggitt, and Mr F. George.
