The Federal Government has declined to accede to Captain Scott's request to grant £1000 towards his Antarctic expedition. Mr E. L. Batchelor, Minister of External Affaire, states that as tho Imperial Government is contributing £20,000 to the expedition, and as Sir Ernest Shackleton did not receivo any assistance from the Imperial Government, the conditions of the two expeditious arc not tho same.
