SENIOR COMPETITION. WEST CHRISTCHURCH v. RICCARTON.
A large crowd gathered at Hagley Park to witness the meeting of the above teams. Riccarton having first use of the wicket, made, a good start, Alf. Norman compiling a useful 22. A fine partnership between Caygili and Harper took the score near the century. Ellis batted attractively for his runs, while Wliitta (24) showed fine cricket, the innings closing for 229. Numerous changes were tried in the Western bowling, Boulton and Lusk being the most successful. W T est Christchurch, on going in, made a bad start, quickly losing three wickets, but a capital stand by Reese and Turner saw the half-century hoisted, Reeoe batting very forcefully.
