REPORT OF MR BAUME'S DEATH.
MEMBER FOR AUCKLAND EAST VERY MUCH ALIVE.
(PRKSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 22, 10.40 a.m. Mr F. E. Baume, M.P., died on tho train to-day. AUCKLAND, Dec. 22, 1.42 p.m. The report of Mr Baume's death is inaccurate. Tho report arose from a ■wire from C. Davis in Wellington to Ernest Davis: "Have you heard Baume died train last night." Mr Baume was certainly alive at 1 p.m. to-day. WELLINGTON, Dec. 22, 1.45 p.m. Persistent rumours were circulated in Wellington at an early hour this nw.rning of the death of Mr BaUme, M.P., on the way to Auckland, and finally received apparent confirmation in a telegram from Auckland announcing his death. Much about the same time the Prime Ministc,r received a message from Mr Baume himself, and then further enquiries wero made showing that, happily, there was no foundation for the, story, and that the member for Auckland East was standing the journey fairly well.* AUCKLAND, Dec. 22, 2.17 p.m. News of Mr Baume's death was widely circulated in Auckland and caused general expressions of regret. Much relief was felt when it was known that the report was incorrect. At the Police Court, Mr Haselden, S.M., and Mr Singer, Mr Baume's former partner, alluded to tho report, and the Court adjourned, to enable the full Bar to bo present to pay due tribute to a colleague who is still very much alive.
