At a meeting of tfto Management Coimuittco of the Mew Zealand I«awn Tennis Association to-night tho secretary brought down a series of proposals a-s to procedure in tho choico of balls for ihn New Zealand championship tournament. It ivns decided that tho choice for the oneuing year bo in tho hands of the committee. Mr Su-anslon moved:—"That tho question of the South Island championship be reopened-." Otago resident for competition in men's singlee at ■the South Island championship meeting, tho understanding being that the- meeting- was to be held in Dunodin. Tho New Zealand Association allotted Iho championships for one year to the Otago Association, which replied that it could cot accept this unless it wero piven control of the meeting, so long as it was conducted properly. Under other circumstances the trophy could not bo secured. It was as a result of this that tho motion viae brought forward. The motion was carried. A desultory discussion ensued, the Chairman eventually ruling that the committee was not competent -to decide the question, which must go to a meeting of the Council of the Association. Mr Swanston then, moved:—"That in view of tho fact that the Otago Lawn Tennis Association has applied for permission to hold a South Island championship singles, ao lone ai the menacrement meets with the approval' of tho New Zealand* Association, the application be granted." The motion" was carried, there being only one dissentient. The recommendation will come up at the next quarterly meeting of the Council, to be held early in February.
