Mr Wade's Bill has received theGovernor's assent and cum* into operation yesterday. Mr Wade's Bill amending the. Industrial Disputes Act makes any loader who instigates or aids any strike or lock-out hablo to twelve months' imprisonment without tJio option of a line, and the penalty on other leaders is left at two months' imprisonment. If tho planning of strikes or lock-outs is carried on behind closed doors, the police are- emyowerod to enter. Those penalties apply equally to masters and man. The increase of penalties applies only where a striko der>rives tho public of a necessary commodity. Tho measure also contains two clauses from tho Commonwealth Act against illegal combinations.
