The ship Clan Macpherson, which left Newcastle, Australia, on June 24th, for Valparaiso, laden -with coal, has been posted as missing.

SEQUEL TO THE ALBERTI FRAUDS.

A majority of the committee of the Danish Folkething urged the arraignment of M. Christensen, ex-Premier, before a special State tribunal, on account of his relations with Alberti. LABOUR EXCHANGES. Lieutenant Adams, a member of Lieutenant Shackleton's exjvedition, has been appointed to superintend! one of the six principal Labour Exchanges. Other appointments include two Transvaal retrenched Civil Servants. TO HELP THE UNEMPLOYED. The Lord Mayor of Newcastle-on-Tyne has inaugurated a fund for the relief of the unemployed. He states that there are 40,000 sufferers, owing to the present depression. LORD KITCHENER. SINGAPORE, December 2. Lord Kitchener is at Singapore, and is starting for Java. ADMIRAL TOGO RETIRES. TOKIO, December 2. Admiral Togo has retired from the naval command, and Vice-Admiral Goro Ijuin succeeds him. Admiral Togo is 62 this month. He was educated for his profession in England, and joined the Japanese Navy in 1868. He was in England again from 1871 to 1878, studying naval affairs. It was he who precipitated the ChinoJapanese war by sinking the Chines© transport Kowshing. _i_ became worldfamous as the Commander-in-Chief of th_ Fleet during the war with Russia, his services culminating in the annihilation of the Baltic Fleet in the Strait of Tsushima, in 1905-1 ITALIAN GOVERNMENT RESIGNS.
