SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
At the last meeting of the Waltham School Committee a motion was carried unanimously; expressing condolence with the relatives of the late Mr D. Gow, who was a member of the oommitte© for upwards of fifteen years. The headmaster's report showed' number on roll 681, and average attendance 601; for the corresponding period last year the figures were 713 and 630. It was agreed that during the headmaster's term as temporary inspector of schools, Mr Douds be acting headmaster, Mr Pratt to take Mr Doud's position, and Mr Mounsey to take Mr Pratt's. Th© inspector's report on tho school was of a gratifying nature. Tho report stated that "th© scop© of th© scheme of work presented and the character of the methods employed indicate that the headmaster's aims are in full rpathy with the spirit that inspired regulations of th© Department. " It was decided' to plant trees on Arbor Day (July 21st), and to give th© school a holiday on July 22nd in place of th© Prince of Wales's Birthday. A new schedule of duties for the caretaker was adopted, and it was decided to advertise the position, the present caretaker to be.eligible to apply-.
