PIGEON SHOOTING.

MATCH AT KAIKOURA. '

(SPECIAL TO "THE PBEBS.") f KAIKOUKA, May 20. The shoot for the £50 live pigeon match took piece on tbe South Bay Racecourse at Kaikoura on ■ Wednesday. The weather wes excellent till 2 p.m.,- when Tain set in from the south, making things' generally disagreeable for both shooters and spectators. Th 6 shooting generally was above the average, Jome excellent marksmanship being displayed. Out of thirty nominations four competitors tied for the £50, which was the prize in an eleven "live" match, each of four killing all the birdsv. The best shooting was done by W. Robert?, with a single nomination. The other three, who had two nominations, were H. S. MeWill* E. A. W. Smith, and Jas. Gray Smith. The champion shot snowed up well, end killed twenty-eight birds cut of twenty-nine on the 28yds mark. Two others, in particular Davidson Bros., shot «-xc« well, and showed excellent form, >-i"iio-* jiiut*teen each out of twenty-two, two f-.l.'injr dfad just over the 60yds line. The four men who tied took £10 each of the stake, and elected to shoot off for the remaining £U: seven birds each. E. A. W. Smith lulled a"l his birds, and Gray was second v/ith, Ms buds. Mr B.
