RICCARTON ROAD BOARD SEVERANCE.
TO THE EDITOR OF "XHJB PRESS." Sir, —A petition in favour of joining part, of"Lower Riccarton and a small portion of Addington district on to Greater Ghristchurch was presented to mc the other day, and, like numbers of others, I, being entirely in favour of the proposal, signed it. The boundaries were mentioned on tho petition, and I noticed no part of Fendalton was included. Therefore, I was surprised to read "Wideawake's" letter in your issue of Thursday protesting against Fendalton being included. One of the members of the committee in r connection with the Greater' Ciinstcburch scheme informs mo that the great majority of the Lower Riocarton ratepayers arc in favour of tho scheme of amalgamation with the City, and that nearly all the opposition to tho proposal comes from Fendalton. Surely it is absurd for Feudal tun ratepayers to oppose the scheme when their district is not included. —Yours, etc.. ONE WHO SIGNED THE PETITION.
