. » , — WIDE WORLD PICTURES. The Colosseum was again packed in all parts last night, when a new programme of pictures was presented by the Wide World Picture Company. The selection of subjects was most happy, and the different iilms were presented with the brillianoo and steadiness characteristic of the Wide World Pictures. The scenic pictures were remarkably fine, and among the views depicted were :—"Venice in a Gondola," "Waterfalls in Sweden/ and "Under the Jsorth Pole," an interesting eerics of Arctic pictures, and ''Hippopotamus Hunting on tbe Kile." Several dramatic subjects were shown, also a strong selection of ever popular comics. To-night the programme will be repeated, and to-morrow two performances will b«r given, afternoon and evening. PATHE PICTURES. The Patlie Pictures shown nightly at the Theatre. Royal are finding favour with the Christchurch public, and tho theatre last night was again crowded with patrons, when the current week's programme was repeated. All tho films were well presented and enthusiastically received, and tho performance altogether was a mo.rt successful one. To-night the programme will be repeated, and to-morrow night there will be a complete change. LECTURE-RECITAL. At the Choral Hall to-night Madame Eldcrhonrt, a lady recently from London, will give a lecture-recital on piano playing, with quotations from Professor Matthay's book. "'The Art of Touch." Tho lecture will be followed by a piano recital. Tho programme will include numbers from Chopin, Beethoven, and Schumann. The plan of reserved seats is at the Dresden.
