GERALDINE RIFLE VOLUNTEERS

The annual meeting of the Geraidine Ri/le Volunteers was held on Tuesday evening in the Drill Hall, when there was a good muster of all ranks on parade. Lieut. Gresham was unanimously elected captain of tho corps in place of Captain Patterson (resigned), and Colour-Sergeant Twigg was promoted to be lieutenant. Alter tho parade a business meeting was held in*the order-ly-room, at which Captain Gresham presided. The report and balancesheet wero read, and in moving their adoption Captain. Gresham remarked that the- corps could congratulate themselves on being in a sound financial position, the balance-sheet showing that £120 stood to their credit. Ho also complimented the marksmen who had represented the company at Trentham, Chrlstohurch, Timaru and Dunedin on the scores they put up against some of tho best- shots in New Zealand. It was proposed by Captain Gresham and seconded by Lieutenant Fyfe that Captain Patterson bo appointed Hon. Surgeon-Captain to the corps. A smoke concert was held in tlie hall after the business meeting, Lieut.-Colonel Mackenzie presiding. H© presented th© trophies won during the past season to tho successful shots.

A paradie of the Ordnance Battalionwas held on Tuesday night, Lieut.Colonel Cooper in command. Captain Jones (Engineers) acting as major, Captain Oakes as adjutant, and Captain Brice as divisional quartermaster? Tho other staff officers present wore: Lieut.
