GERMANY IN THE PACIFIC.
A DISCLAIMER BY TIIE CONSULGENERAL. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, March 16. The German Ce>nsul-Gene*ral characterises the* cable stating that Germany intends to seize an island in the Pacific and transform it into a naval-base as absurd. He xx>ints out that Britain, Germany, France, and America have already apportioned the administration of the Pacific. The Consul says: "The scare comes, as usual, from an American source. A section of tho New York Press seldom loses an opportunity of putting Australia against Germany. The reports are- circulated for purposes of intimidation."
