QUAIL ISLAND LEPER STATION.

; Both tho Maori who was brought down from tho North Island a few weeks ago and the white patient on Quail Island aro reported to be doing well. As the right eye of tbo Maori was badly affected by the disease, it was thought that the sight of the left eye might bo endangered. An operation was performed about a fortnight ago, the right oyo removed altogether, and the patient is now progressing very satisfactorily. Mr W. Thomas, caretaker of the island, wishes to acknowledge, on behalf of the patients, gifts of books and illustrated naners from Dr. J. M. Mason, Chief Health Officer; Mr Bull, Public Works Department; an<J also from an anonymous donor.
