Mr Swinburne, Victorian Minister for Water Supply, has issued a writ, claiming , £5000 damages from the "Age" newspaper for alleged libel, contained in au article dealing with the Water Supply Department. A BALLARAT TRAGEDY. A tragedy has occurred at Ballarat, where, after a quarrel and while hor husband was drunk, Mrs Cartledgo received n fatal'shot from a revolver her husband was holding. Cart-ledge claims that tho revolver accidentally exploded while his wife was trying to wrench it from him. WINTRY WEATHER. (Received September 22nd, 12.31 a.m.) SYDNEY, September 21.
