SIZE OF CORNSACKS.
(SF-CIA- TO •'the J»E_SS. ,r \ OAMARU, September 20. Tho question of the size of sacks to be used during the coming grain season is still exercising the minds of millers and merchants. Tho bulk of the now season's orders have :l>eon for 46-inch sacks ; rather than for 44-inch. Millers are expressing their intention of giving preference to wheat contained in 40----inch sacks, as they find that the smaller bag will not conveniently nor advantageously hold 20ulb of flour, and thoy are not inclined to face tho loss which a stock of the smaller bags at the end of the season would rpprosent Experienced storeraen agree that 2001b »f grain in 46iu moans slack hags and
! consequent damage to those who havo to handle and stack them. The limitation oi weight will .in that caso hardly |b« beneficial to the men in whose inj terests tbe railway regulation was 1 ostensibly framed.
