A sailor named W. A. Brown, belonging to H.M.S. Encounter, was admitted to the Wellington hospital on Thursday night, suffering from a painful accident to his eye. At Nelson on Wednesday a soda water bottle burst, and a piece of the glass lodged in the pupil of Brown's eyo. The unfortunate man was operated upon on Friday morning, when the eye had to bo removed. (rKESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) / NAPIER, September 19. An old man named Andrews was found dead in a paddock at Puketapu, this morning. DUNEDIN, September 20. A man named David Reid, aged seventy years, a superannuated railway crossing-keeper, was foiind dead on the Ocean Beach this morning. It is supposed he committed suicide by jumping off the cliff at Lawyer's Head. Deceased's wife died a few months ago, and he had been very despondent ever since.
