THE McCARTHY CASE.
Mr Fleming, of Port Levy, the gentleman who so generously forwarded a cheque for £10 when the case of tho blind man McCarthy was first disclosed, wroto to the Mayor of Timaru on Saturday expressing regret that the ea.se had turned out as it had, but stating that he still wished his money to go to benefit McCarthy. The donations of the following contributors to the McCarthy fund have, at their request, been dealt with as follows:—To Mrs Batchelor fund: H.G.W., 10s; to the Ogden fund: M.H.D., 03; to the Christcburch Coal and Blanket fund : ''Lincoln," 10s.
