CANTERBURY COLLEGE CELEBRATIONS.
The Empire Day celebrations which nro to bo held at Canterbury Co-leg© to-morrow will be on an elaborate scale. Mr G. W. Russell, th© chairman of the Board of Governors, states the guests invited on to th© platform will assem bl© in the Board room between 10 and 10.30 a.m., in full academical costume. They will then walk in procession through a guard of honour (provideby the Boys' High School Cadets) into the main hall, and take their places on the platform. The proceedings will be very similar to those of last- year, consisting of the singing of th© Hundredth Psalm, followed by a prayer by Bishop Julius, addresses by the chairman of th© Board (Mr G. W. Russell), chairman of the College Committee (Mr J. C. Adams). P-rofessor Chilton (on. behalf of the Professorial Board), Mr T. W. Row© (Graduates' Associ—tion), and a representative of the Students' A-oociatio-n. At th© finish there i> to be a tableau under the direction of Mr Herdman Smith, director of the School of Art) on the balcony. The tableau will be symbolical of the Empire, and the whole of tho arrangements, which have been • most- carefnlfy attended to, aro in the hands of the authorities of the School of Art. Tho musical arrangements will bo under Dr. Brad-haw. and the programme will include Elgar's Land of Hope and Glory." "Rule Britannia," con-ov-iding with the National Anthem. The proceedings will not be unduly prolonged, and the speeches.will be brief. Adm it's, ion will be by ticket only, owing to the limited accommodation, the representatives of the instit-dtions under the control of th© .Board being sufficient to fill th© floor space. Special a<rra.n.;*.emen>ts have been made, however, to provide room for.invited guests.
