From tho cross-examination of Mr Deakin at tho Premiere' Conference, there appears to bo littlo chance of tlio Conference- entertaining the Commonwealth's financial proposals. Mr Deakin stated that he would be pleased to consider any alternative scheme brought forward, or to reconsider ins schoino. (Received -tay Bth, 1.12 a.m.) Tho Premiers discussed at length the financial proposals. The speeches were generally opposed to their* acceptance. The debate -was adjourned without a decision being arrived at.
