OBITUARY.

(PBE33 ASSOCIATION TELBORAM.)

AUCKLAND, May 1. Mr T. T. Maeefield, ironfounder, died this morning. He had been a member of the City Council and kxai bour Board, and had contested tl: Grey Lynn seat unsuccessfully againct?he present Minister of Education. A well-known resident of Invercarfill, Mr J. J. Zimmer, died on Thursay. He arrived in Invercargill some 22 yeara ago under engagement to the iate Mr Ashbury, : of England, who purchased the Merrivale estate from Messrs Ellis Bros. After relinquishing secretarial work in that capacity, he settled in Invercargill as a musio teacher,' whibh pursuit he followed until illness overtook him. His wife, who was resident in Ceylon, was on ncr way to.join him when illness laid her aside in Sydney. Mr Zimmer was an ardent Theosophist, and on several occasions wrote articles and lectured on tho principles of that cult.
