CORRESPONDENCE.

DENTAL ANATOMY LECTURES.

TO TUB EDITOR OF "XHB PRESS." Sir, —I sco in this morning's account of the mooting of the Canterbury CoJlego BoaTd of Governors that tho College Committee Tecommend tliat a class in dental anatomy should be started, one hour, a week at" a fee of two guineas a term. I fail to sco "why such a prohibitive • fee should bo imposed. Every other lecture is half v guinea per term, so why should an exception be made in tiliis- cos©? Tho 1 fact that the class, is a new one ought to be no argument for a high fee, as students want to be encouraged to take up a new lecture and make it popular. That there will be very Jew students ought to bo no reason, as there arp other lectures with • very few etudents, and yet the fee remains the same, viz., half a guinea. Again, the committee must remember that a dental student has many other lectures to attend—physics, chemistry, and the like—and he has additional heavy expenses in having to provide his own instruments when undergoing his couTse, a thing no other student h«s to do. Lastly, I would remind the College Committee that a dental anatomy class, unless made easily attainable, :e never likely to draw many students other than those who are of necessity compelled to take it for their degree, as' dental anatomy is a subject of very little ,use in tho daily work of a busy practising dentist.—Yours, etc v
