It is no wonder there axe daimante to the Pago Estates for the vaiue of them is fabulous. They include whole suburbs of London and very valuable rural land. Tho fortunes of the Page family were •foundeu by Henry VIII., who gave a grant of monastic land to one of his courtiers. The • last of tho Pages died in 1829, since when hrs estate, comprising 60 square miles, has been administered by trustees. Last year the Government claimed the estate on the ground it wae escheat to the Crown in default of heirs, when the last of the Paces died. A committee of the. House of Commons wog set up to enquire into tthe case, for the interests involved ore enormous.
