ADVERSE VOTING IN WELLINGTON.

A LIVELY MEETING. (special to "the pbesb.") WELLINGTON, April 28. At the School Committee ©lections last night, householders wont solidly against Bible Teading in schools. The ! advocates of secular education won all ! along tho lino; indeed, the advocates lof Bible reading were utterly routed. j At some of tho meetings feeling ran high. At Mitcheltown tho meeting was particularly lively. "When Mr G. W. Davies commenced (says tho '"Times") to nominate persons as candidates for the {School committee, Mr T. Tara-. I bacha declared that ho had been in j tho district for a number of years, and I said to tho proposer, 'I will have your gore before I havo done with you." Mr Davies continued to give his nominations. Mr Tarabacba: "You be a little careful, or you will see what will happen to you. You want to run the show, but not while I can move about. ''You leavo tho Pope out of it altogether," frantically yelled Mrs Hayes. "You are mad; you are absolutely mad!" Mr Tarabacha: ■'"Wo came tore to elect a committee; we did not come to arguo about Christianity. Wo do not want to know anything about tho churches. If you did not havo a father . or motSer I had one, and she taught mc enough Christianity to carry mc on. I have forgotten moro Christianity than you know.
