MEETINGS OF PARISHIONERS

4 ST. MARY'S, ADDINGTON.

'Rio annual meeting, of tho parishionere of St. Mary's Church, Addington, was held an the schoolroom lust .evening, and was -well attended. Tiit, Kev. W. 6. Bean, vicar, was in tbo chair. Tho Vicar, in tie report, stated that after a year of except ion ally heavy expenditure, it was with feelings of very real gratitude that ho was ahlo to report that the parish was entirely fxeo from detbt. Tho total receipts for th© year—April Ist, 1907, to March 31et, 1908—wero £889 lis. and th© expenditure amounted to £884 14s Bd, leaving a credit balance of £4 l&s 4d. During tho year there woro 74 bapfy tisms, 21 marriages, and 49 burials. Th© memorial to the late Premier, th© Uiaht Hon. It. J. fckddon. consisting of a belfry, a peal of talis, and a marble tablet-with a suitable inscription, was now complete. Sir Joseph "Ward hcul un-voilod th& tablet, and the Bishop had dedicated the belfry and bells. Tho memorial hod cost £.500, and the warm-e.s-L thanks of the -parishioners were due I to tho "Kesses o' tho Barn" Band for ; its gift of tdie peal of bolls, and to tho i f.:i-becri>bors towards tho cost of tho belfry .and tho marble tablet. Tho report and balance-sheet wore ,-adopted. Tho following vestry wero elected :— Messrs A. Doig, G. Evans, F. Harvey, L. P. Pc-pperell, A. Hern, A. Cooper, S. Andrews, G. Woods, W. Johnson, and A. Johnston ; parishioner's churchwarden, Mr A. Morton-: vicar's ohurchwardon, Mr W. "Downing. •Several votes of thanks were passed, special reference being mode to Mr J. J. Kiii6ey for his assistance, financial and otherwise, in regard to the Seddon memorial belfry. and to Messrs Leathern and P Anson, two retiring members of the vestrv, tlie latter of whom (lias hold office in the church almost continuously for fortv-two years.
