TEMUKA.
The annual mooting of the Mechanics' Institute and Debating Society was prrpuled over by Mr D. McCaskill. The report dealt witJi the progress during the year, and the " finances of tho Institute. The receitrte were £135 2s, and expenditure £112 9s 4d, leaving a credit balance of £22 12s Sd. Mr M. MeLeod, M.A., was unanimously elected president, and most of the old officers were re-elected. Mr TV. L. Duncan, en old supporter, who is taking up his residenco in Christchurchj was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his past services. It was decided to open the session on May 4th.
